INDIE POP ARTIST SET TO RELEASE ACOUSTIC LIVE SEQUEL TO DEBUT EP
written by James Kennedy
NASHVILLE, TN− On November 1, 2020, independent artist AVE released her debut EP Burn Book: a collection of melodic cautionary tales named after the perpetrator of the event that sparked each song. In the recording process of her EP, AVE tracked eight songs with intentions to release all eight on the first project. However, as production was getting ready to wrap, AVE made the decision to save three of the tracks and kept them in her back pocket for another project. That project would soon become Burn Book B-Sides, an acoustic-driven live production of three of AVE’s most cherished songs off of the original EP, as well as the three tracks she had yet to bring to the light.
Burn Book B-Sides will consist of six tracks, similar to its predecessor. The tracks will include fan-favorites off of Burn Book such as “Kalagher”, “Joey”, and “Mr. & Mrs. McDonough” all performed acoustically in a Nashville recording studio, as well as three bonus tracks titled “Amber”, “Eric”, and “St. George”. Originally set to kick off Burn Book, “Amber” is a witty ex-roommate tale that combines elements of witchiness, vengeful lyricism, and blues backed up by piano. “Eric” takes on a lighter tone as a retrospective tale of self-reconciliation and freedom from an ex-boyfriend, performed intimately on acoustic guitar. The sister EP concludes with “St. George”, a gritty, soulful track performed on acoustic guitar by AVE and accompanied by pianist James Kennedy. The song reflects on the bidding adieu of old bandmates and does not stray from the brutal honesty AVE strived for with Burn Book. Through her cleverly crafted lyricism, AVE intentionally uses song titles of songs her band used to cover in the bridge as a direct call-out to her adversaries, and as a means of empowerment. The EP will be recorded live from Nashville, Tennessee, and is set to release on AVE’s 21st birthday of January 25, 2021.
“AVE’s music has refreshingly merged pop, soul, and blues. Her unique crossover is ear-catching and has sent ripples from her small town just outside NYC to Nashville, TN…” - Be a Highway Woman.
“Pristinely rapturous to the ear… and so meaningful to the heart. Singularly unique in a very plural industry.” - Beverly Petrone; NY listener on the topic of Burn Book
“My goal is to help listeners feel less alone in their struggles and feel inspired to be vulnerable about them. My latest album, Burn Book, is my way of leading by example in the challenge of vulnerability…” - AVE; Voyage ATL “Life & Work with AVE”
Acoustic performances of “Kalagher”, “Mr. & Mrs. McDonough”, and “Joey” as well as bonus tracks “Amber”, “Eric”, and “St. George” can all be found in Burn Book B-Sides, the sister EP to AVE’s debut project Burn Book, coming January 25, 2021.
